Around March 1998, I pierced my lower lip. The piercing is called a Labret. I used a 14g cannula needle to do the piercing, and inserted a 14g ring. As the piercing is quite low, the ring had to be of a large diameter, and thus, it rubbed against my teeth, forcing me to change into a labret stud. This helped, as it had swelled up a bit and made it hard to eat. After a few weeks, I changed the stud to a shorter one, so the disc didn't rub my gums away. At the moment, it is at 14g, I have no plans to stretch it or anything.. it's fine as it is. I wear a one inch spike in it on occasions, shown on the picture below.
